Rachel Cannon Champions Oklahoma's Film Industry on a National Stage
IWF Oklahoma member Rachel Cannon is helping bring Oklahoma's film and television industry into a national conversation about the future of production in the United States.
Cannon, founder and CEO of Rock Paper Cannon, was recently featured in The Hollywood Reporter after traveling to Washington, D.C., with the Coalition for American Production. The group met with lawmakers to discuss ways to keep film and television production, along with the jobs it creates, in the United States.
For Cannon, the conversation reaches well beyond a single studio or state. Oklahoma's production industry depends on a strong national network of studios, crews and businesses. As she told The Hollywood Reporter, "We're all connected and we all have to make sure that the industry can survive."
Cannon has seen what production can mean for Oklahoma firsthand. Before founding Rock Paper Cannon, she founded Prairie Surf Studios, which hosted productions including Tulsa King and Twisters. Her work has helped show what Oklahoma can offer as a place to make film and television while creating opportunities for local talent and businesses.
Through her continued advocacy, Cannon is ensuring Oklahoma has a voice in conversations that will shape the industry's future. IWF Oklahoma is proud to see her leadership recognized on a national stage.
